Equilibrium’s Controlled Environment Foods (CEF) team manages more than $1.4B in institutional capital as the largest dedicated controlled environment agriculture platform in North America. The CEF platform employs a flexible, hybrid investment structure to meet the needs of today’s innovative and leading agricultural companies, providing both corporate equity and off-balance sheet financing (sale-leaseback, debt, etc.) for large-scale controlled environment agriculture facilities. These investments support production of year-round fresh produce and foods with a focus on sustainable practices, food safety, and predictable supply.

 

The Opportunity: CEF Senior Analyst 

The CEF team is looking to hire a Senior Analyst to help the team continue to deploy capital into the controlled environment foods space. The CEF Senior Analyst will be integral to value creation and will assist with evaluating potential new investments and with managing existing investments. Responsibilities may include financial analysis and modeling, investment due diligence, portfolio monitoring and asset management, investor reporting, supporting capital raising, and general assistance with fund management.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the CEF team in the underwriting and due diligence processes by building financial models, reviewing draft term sheets and definitive legal documents, conducting market research, drafting investment memos, and coordinating consultants and transaction counsel.
  • Review due diligence documents and data rooms in conjunction with senior deal team members and deal counsel/consultants to ensure adherence to underwriting standards and IC requirements.
  • Support portfolio management for existing investments, including budgeting expected performance, evaluating actual performance, and implementing portfolio management processes for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on existing portfolio investments, including sustainability reporting; ensure data integrity and the timely entering of performance data into the firm’s reporting software.
  • Track important administrative and filing deadlines for fund investments, and work cross-functionally to ensure timely completion.
  • Support investor relations functions through the preparation of quarterly and annual materials, including individual asset updates, fund-level performance analysis, and annual presentations.
  • Support the CEF team in the raising of additional capital by preparing offering documents, responding to due diligence inquiries, and attending meetings with potential investors.
  • Minimum of two years of working experience; candidates with investment banking, real estate, private equity, or agribusiness experience preferred.


Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of two years of working experience; candidates with investment banking, real estate, private equity, or agribusiness experience preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of financial modeling experience or the ability to demonstrate modeling proficiency at this level.
  • Experience with standard investment legal documentation and terminology.
  • Experience drafting investing memorandum and presentations.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally working in a small team environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree; preferred Master’s degree in finance, business or equivalent major.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment 3 days in the office.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • Salary range is $115,000 - $130,000.
  • Compensation includes an additional performance-based bonus and the opportunity to participate in the CEF team’s carried interest pool.
