Equilibrium’s Water and Waste (EQWW) team launched the Wastewater Opportunity Fund to provide project-level equity financing to develop, design, build and operate distributed wastewater facilities. The fund’s projects target the agricultural waste, industrial food waste and municipal wastewater sectors where revenues are generated from renewable electricity, renewable fuel, waste processing, and nutrient sales.  The team is expanding to build a $1 billion portfolio of water and waste processing assets over the next several years and is looking to hire a Construction Manager to expand the Investments team.


  • Responsible to provide project management oversight and owner’s representation during the design, permitting and construction phases for a geographically distributed investment portfolio of wastewater and anaerobic digestion facilities.  
  • Evaluate designs, construction readiness, schedules, project capital costs and operating budgets for accuracy and completeness.
  • Effectively manage simultaneous projects from design through commercial operations, focusing efforts on cost control, schedule control and operational efficiencies.
  • With project partners and other internal team members, oversee project commissioning and start-up. Ensure contract compliance, warranty information, performance guarantees, and owner acceptance criteria are met.
  • Gather and analyze operational reports from the entire portfolio of investments.  Assist in receiving and reviewing annual plans, budgets and operational performance and compare to the plan of record including during and after commissioning.
  • Participate in Investment Committee meetings. Provide input to investment memos and prepare progress reports during design and construction.
  • Provide project partners with advice and counsel related to design and construction management issues and concerns. Work with project partners to ensure regulatory and environmental compliance records and reports are complete and submitted in a timely manner to various regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor all projects, including on-site visits, for budget, schedule, reporting, OSHA compliance, safety and standards compliance. Effectively identify material changes to project risks, cost, or schedule. Quickly and thoroughly communicate project issues to the VP of Design and Construction.
  • Review and approve pay applications, invoices and other documents as required and delegated.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience designing and constructing complex wastewater, energy, infrastructure or real estate projects through all phases of the design, construction and stabilization process.
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or Civil, Mechanical, Process, or Environmental Engineering with a preference for those with a technical or business-related Master’s degree.
  • Preference for candidates with wastewater, anaerobic digestion, water or renewable energy facility construction expertise.
  • Demonstrated track record for delivering projects on-time and on-budget and outstanding talent for anticipating and managing change order process.
  • Demonstrated estimating and scheduling capabilities.
  • Working understanding of and experience negotiating design and construction contracts.
  • Working ability to analyze potential investments, budgets and pro forma financials.  
  • Well organized, highly motivated and detail oriented with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally, working in a cross-functional small team environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • A passion for sustainable investing and asset management.
  • Team-oriented with ability to work in dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.



  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proficiency with Critical Path Method scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project).
  • Excited about working and living in Portland, Oregon with the ability to travel frequently, up 50% or more.
